What if my student has accommodations?

Do you offer online SAT prep programs?

Currently, Treehouse SAT prep is offered through private tutoring and small group sessions in person. While some programs have shifted entirely online, we’ve discovered that many students learn more effectively with face-to-face support, real-time feedback, and a dedicated learning environment. In-person instruction helps us read cues, adjust pacing, and keep students fully engaged in ways that screens often cannot.

How flexible is your scheduling?

Very. We offer evening and weekend sessions and do our best to accommodate sports, theater, jobs, and family commitments. We've seen some very busy student schedules, and we can almost always find a workable plan. Our goal is to support your child’s progress without adding unnecessary stress to an already busy life.

Do you offer a money back guarantee on score improvement?

Accepted Answer

We do not, and that is intentional. Many guarantees come with rigid rules that fall apart the moment real life intervenes. Miss a class for any reason and the guarantee is often void, with no makeup options. We know life happens. Rather than setting artificial benchmarks, we focus on partnering with families, adjusting when needed, and doing the work that actually leads to meaningful improvement.

What is considered a “good” SAT score?

A good score is one that helps your child get into the schools they’re aiming for and compete for scholarships if that’s part of the plan.

Context matters. A 1350 might not significantly impact a student aiming for the most selective schools, but for most students, it’s an excellent score.

For reference:
 • National average: around 1000
 • 75th percentile: around 1200
 • 90th percentile: around 1350
 • 99th percentile: around 1500
 • Perfect score: 1600

Scores tell a story, but they are just one part of the bigger picture.

When should students start SAT prep?

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, but there's a dependable rule of thumb. If your student has completed Algebra II by the end of sophomore year, the summer before junior year is an ideal time to prepare, aiming for a fall SAT or ACT. If they are taking Algebra II during junior year, a spring test date usually makes more sense.

Most students work with us for several weeks, so the best strategy is to choose a test date first and plan backward. That keeps prep focused, realistic, and much less stressful for everyone involved.

Do colleges still care about the SAT if they’re test-optional?

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: test-optional does not mean test-blind.

Very few schools are genuinely test blind. Most test-optional colleges still consider scores when students submit them, and those scores are often used in admissions decisions, placement, and scholarship evaluation.

There are cases where making test optional is reasonable. But the data so far is clear. Students who submit strong SAT or ACT scores usually have more options and better scholarship opportunities.

Should my student take the SAT or the ACT? What are the differences?

For many students, the gap is less than it seems.

Both tests are designed to assess the academic skills students develop during middle and high school. Most students score similarly on both exams.

Where it matters most is style and pacing. Some students prefer the SAT's structure. Others perform better with the ACT's timing.
